Why care about refrigerator door seals?

Your door seals might be an afterthought, but they make a difference! Don't waste money, time or electricity, or jeopardize your food license...
First off… What does a gasket do?
It keeps the cold air in and the warm air out!
A door gasket creates an airtight seal around the edge of the refrigerator door, preventing warm air from getting in and keeping the cold air inside, which maintains the proper temperature for your food and minimizes energy usage by the appliance. It’s critical if you don’t want to waste time, lose foods to temp problems, or pay more for electricity than you need to.
Why keep your gaskets in good working order?
Keeping your gaskets healthy allows the appliance to get the most out of its lifespan. If the appliance constantly has to overcompensate for a bad seal, you risk wearing out your appliances prematurely.
Healthy gaskets mean foods stay at temp with a minimal amount of effort. If doors are being opened and closed constantly, you want your appliances to be able to compensate for that loss immediately and not be working against an air leak.
